How To Take Apart A Small Engine. The connecting rod connects the piston to the crankshaft. Remove the flywheel retaining nut from the engine crankshaft with a socket wrench while holding the flywheel with the flywheel.
Pull the shaft out of the engine. Take a piece of starter rope and push it down in the spark plug hole. That bolt goes completely through the generator rotor and threads.
Now Remove the spark plug.
Episode 2 Engine tear down and rebuild. Loosen the bolt that holds the clamp on that holds the shaft tight. If your engine is already in a car you will need to use an engine hoist to remove it from the engine bay. Some pistons have small circlips holding the pin in place.
